Abstrakt     Group A rotaviruses are the major cause of acute diarrhoea in children. As this disease represents a high mortality level, the studies in the whole world concerning the determination of genotypes and serotypes of rotaviruses are orientated in creating a more effective vaccine. Double-stranded RNA extracted from stool specimens with trizol reagent was used as the template for reverse transcription, followed by amplification of the entire selected genome segment. Genotypes were identified using the type-specific primers, originated form distinct regions of the gene 9 and 4. We determined the amplified products by gele electroforesis. Between 1988 and 1994, genotypes G4 P[8] and G1 P[8] were dominating. We also typed the folloving less frequent genotypes: G3 P[9], G3 P[8], and three mixed infections such as G3G4 P[8]P[9], G3 P[8]P[9] and G1G4 P[8].
