Abstrakt     The Slovenian health insurance list of respiratory drugs is up-to-date. In the last 6 years the consumption of combined inhaled glucocorticoids with selective beta2 agonists, leukotriene receptor antagonists and anticholinergic bronchodilators has increased, while the use of inhaled glucocorticoids and selective beta2 agonists has decreased. There are significant regional differences in consumption. Age-related use is linear under the age of 19 years, after which it rises steeply. Prescribing of cough suppressants has significantly declined following the implementation of health insurance prescribing limitations in the year 2000. Expenditure on respiratory drugs has doubled in the last six years. Expenditure on combined inhaled glucocorticoids with selective beta2 agonists constitutes 42% of all respiratory drug expenditure. The prices of daily treatment with different respiratory drugs show great variability between comparable effective drugs.
