Abstrakt     The starting point of the reflection in our discussion group were parts of films narratives, which presented a motif of suicide act and the grieving process after the loss of a loved one to suicide. As we were taken through the way of thinking and developing the starting-point themes by the film makers, we were guided in a combination of the art of film and psychological science. We discussed the chosen movie sequences through the perspective of theory and emotional experience arising in us and thus offered a critical reflection on the attitude of the society towards suicide and the attitude of grieving men and women to the suicide of a loved one. Although our fundamental goal was to expose the characteristics of the grieving process after the suicide of a loved one with men and women and establishing the parallels between both grenders, we often dwelled on the phenomenon of suicide itself and the bereavement from suicide. It is possible that this is also a result of a finding that the studies have not vet come to a plausible answer, whether men and women have their own gender-specific experiences in the bereavement process after the loss of a loved one to suicide. The research work shows that men in general encounter greater difficulties in adjustment to a lossthan women, which means that male survivors from suicide, could need special attention. The chosen film stories in fact offered us a detailed insight in the gieving process of men after the loss of a loved one to suicide.
Izvleček     Oporo našemu razmišljanju v diskusijski skupini so predstavljali izseki filmskih pripovedi, ki so v ospredju postavljali motiv, dejanje samomora in proces žalovanja po samomoru bližnjega. Spremljanje, kako o izhodiščnih temah razmišljajo in jih oblikujejo filmski ustvarjalci, nas je vodilo v prepletanju filmske umetnosti in psihološke znanosti. Izbrane filmske prizore smo namreč prediskutirali skozi perspektivo teorije in čustvenega doživljanja, ki se je ob tem porajalo v nas, ter tako ponudili kritično refleksijo odnosa družbe do samomora ter odnosa žalujočih žensk in moških do samomora bližnjega. Čeprav je bil naš temeljni namen osvetliti značilnosti procesa žalovanja po samomoru bližnjega pri moških in ženskah ter poiskati vzporednice med spoloma, smo se pogosto zadržali pri samem fenomenu samomora in žalovanja po samomoru. Morda je to tudi izraz ugotovitve, da v okviru dosedanjih študij ni mogoče povsem jasno odgovoriti, ali imajo moški in ženske svojemu spolu specifične izkušnje v procesu žalovanja po izgubi bližnjega zaradi samomora. Raziskave sicer kažejo , da imajo moški na splošno več težav pri prilagajanju na izgubo kot ženske, kar pomeni, da moški, žalujoči po samomoru bližnjega, potrebujejo posebno pozornost. Dejansko so nam izbrane filmske zgodbe v večji meri ponujale na vpogled žalovanje moških po samomoru bližnjega.
