Abstrakt		According to the data of the European statistical bureau (Eurostat) each year approximately 4.7 million of accidents at work requiring an absence from work for more than three days are recorded. There are also approximately 4,900 casualties. The yearly decrease of the number of accidents, that has been noted from the year 2003 was interrupted in 2005. Most of the reported accidents happened in construction, followed by production of metal products (excluding machines) with almost seven percent, and public administration. In distribution of accidents per day, it is interesting to note the shift of casualties to Saturdays and Sundays - something, that has previously not been recorded. In 2005 the age groups with the most casualties and severe injuries were the ones from 50 to 54 and from 55 to 59 years.
Izvleček		Po podatkih Evropskega statističnega urada (Eurostat) vsako leto v državah članicah EU zabeležijo okoli 4,7 milijona nezgod neposredno pri delu, ki zahtevajo odsotnost z dela več kot tri dni, smrtno pa se poškoduje približno 4.900 delavcev. V letu 2005 je bil prekinjen od leta 2003 prisoten trend zmanjševanja števila smrtnih nezgod pri delu. Največ prijavljenih nezgod je bilo v gradbeništvu. Sledi proizvodnja kovinskih izdelkov brez strojev in naprav, s skoraj sedmimi odstotki, ter dejavnost javne uprave. V dnevni distribuciji smrtnih nezgod je zanimiv predvsem pojav »premika« smrtnih nezgod pri delu na sobote in nedelje, česar prej na inšpektoratu za delo nismo zasledili. V letu 2005 sta bili nezgodam, ki so imele za posledico smrtno in težjo poškodbo najbolj izpostavljeni starostni skupini 50-54 in 55-59 let.
