Abstrakt		Defibrillation is still the only effective therapy of VF/VT. Success of defibrillation depends on numerous factors - transthoracic impedance, position of electrodes, type of defibrillation impulse, energy... In guidelines 2005 are some new instructions regarding defbrillation. Instead of threeshock sequence, patients are defibrillated with one shock, immediately followed by basic life support (BLS). New are energy recommendations and there are some new emphasises about safety. Despite extensive instructions we are, because the lack of clinical studies that would prove which defibrillation impulse and energy is optimal, left to follow manufacturers recommendations. At the end, our knowledge of equipment we're working with is vital for us to be able to defibrillate succesful ly.
