Abstrakt     Sepsis is the body's systemic response to infection. Severe sepsis (sepsis induced organ dysfunction or failure) can develop unrecognized at home or at hospital as a consequence of infection on internal or surgical ward. Patient with severe sepsis should be hospitalized in the intensive care unit. First medical aid is delivered by general practitioner, emergency physician or by medical team onthegeneral ward. Early recognition of sepsis is often difficult. Early recognition and treatment of sepsis are essential for good outcome. In this paper clinical picture and early treatment of septic patient is described. With timely executed bundles of interventions recommended by the Surviving sepsis campaign, mortality rate of sepsis should be reduced by 25% in the next five years.
