Abstrakt		Portal hypertension is caused because of high pressure in portal vein. Elevated pressure gradient between portal vein and vena cava inferior is resulting, important portosystemic collaterals can develop. Esophageal and/or gastic varices are the most common source of bleeding. The sanguination can be stopped with interventional endoscopic procedures or using systemic pharmacological therapy.
