Abstrakt | Extremely preterm delivery (PD) before 28 weeks of gestation - and very PD before 32 weeks - contributes the major part to perinatal mortality and morbidity. The GRIT trial showed that a few days delay in the lowest gestational age group is possibly better. According to the National Perinatal Informational System (NPIS) of Slovenia, although Slovenia is one of the countries with relatively low PD, the incidence of PD did not decline over the past 10 years. Based on almost 150 000 deliveries in Slovenia, Verdenik made a model for prediction of the risk of PD in Slovenia. Most risk factors are such one cannot influence, e.g. diabetes mellitus, conisation, previous PD and others. In our prospective interventional study we shall be looking for and intervening to reduce or remove risk factors that can be influenced. Thus we expect to prolong pregnancies up to the optimal time for baby to be delivered. | |
