Abstrakt     The author presents recent findings and recognitions regarding the origin of preeclampsia. He describes the disease as genetically grounded maladaptation of pregnant women to the invading trophoblast. The second invasion into spiral arteries of the uterus is hindered. Placental hypoxia causes the release of free radicals, which damage endothelial cell function. The generalized endothelial cell damage causes vasoconstriction in all organic systems of the pregnant woman. There is release of many different proteins and other molecules, which can serve in the detection of the arising disease and its treatment.
