Abstrakt		Thrombocytopenia exists when platelet count drops below 150x10/9/L. Thrombocytopenia is due to decreased bone marrow production of platelets, abnormal distribution of plateles and inreased destruction due to immune or nonimmune mechanisms. Clinical signs of trombocytopenia occur at lower counts of platelets (<20x10/9/L) as petechiae, purpura or echimoses. Beside diagnostic procedures and treatment of thrombocytopenia the paper presents exact treatment of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, which are considered as hematologic emergencies.
