Abstrakt		Getting up and transferring are fundamental for taking part in daily activities and extremely important for mastering the close living environment. Transfer, according to the Functional Independence Measure (FIM), includes getting out of bed from the lying position as well as walking or moving to the wheelchair. Besides considering the environment we should bear in mind the specifics and uniqueness of the individual. It is important to get the neurological patient's co-operation and be taught about his or her own way of performing the transfer as well as to jointly find safer and more adequate solutions and evaluate them.
