Abstrakt		Possibilities in sensory motor development of prematurely born baby are presented. The elements of normal child's development, which is a basis for recognition of clinical signs of abnormality, are discussed. The barriers in the first year of a child's life are analyzed, with the emphasis on development between the 4th and 9th month of age. The barriers are due to poor tonus and movement. Besides, the consequences that the barriers might have in further development are analyzed. The principle of physiotherapist's examination and the assessment of a child's sensory motor development is described as a guidance for examination planning. Lines for the work with parents in interdisciplinary team are outlined.
