Abstrakt     Background: People frequently affected by stress have increased incidence of cardiovascular disease. However, according to recent data the incidence of cardiovascular disease is lower in endurance trained athletes compared to sedentary individuals. Recently it is presumed that regular physical activity improves organs functionality as well as endocrine, somatosensory and autonomic nervous system modulation in humans. Heart rate variability closely correlate with autonomic nervous system modulation of the heart. Increased heart rate variability (HRV) and particularly high frequency (HF) spectral component are markers of parasympathetic activity. Higher values of HRV and parasympathetic activity are associated with lower cardiac events and improved autonomic modulation of the heart. Objective: The purpose of our study was to determine the endurance training influence on heart rate variability in middle aged endurance trained athletes and in control group. We supposed that LF values as well as LF/HF ratio are lower and complete heart rate variability, SDNN, RMSSD and HF values are higher before and after the workload in endurance trained athletes. To test this hypothesis we compared heart rate variability parameters between endurance trained athletes and the control group before and immediately after 80-100% theoretical maximal aerobic capacity workload. Subjects and methods: For this study we included seventeen endurance trained athletes and twelve untrained volunteers. Both, athletes and untrained volunteers started with SOW workload on cycloergometer. The workload was gradually increased by 50W every three minutes up to 80-100% of theoretical maximal aerobic individual capacity (VO2max). With the intention to analyse time (SDNN and RMSSD) and frequency HRV (power spectral analysis) domains, digital EKG recordings before, immediately after, ten and twenty minutes after workload were made.
