Abstrakt     Medicine is an ever-changing science. A new research and clinical experience broaden our knowledge, changes in treatment and drug therapy are required. Undoubtedly ultrasound and other imaging technology will improve over time. Emergency ultrasound is a young field that is undergoing a period of explosive growth. Unlike many other specialized areas of medicine, where clear pathways for gaining training, certification, and experience have already been well established, emergency ultrasound is still relatively new and the methods by which it can be integrated into clinical training and practice have yet to be precisely defined. Fellowship training programs have been developed. Emergency medicine residency programs have incorporated bedside sonography into their training programs. The scope of clinical practice of emergency medicine includes bedside sonography as a specific procedural skill integral to the practice of emergency medicine. Bedside ultrasound is not widely practise by emergency physicians in Slovenia despite its use in Europe, Asia and North America, and an extensive medical literature on the subject. However, new emergency medicine residency programs should incorporate bedside sonography into their training programs. In the Centre for Emergency Medicine Maribor, we have ultrasound machine approximately 3/4 of year. In our initial training courses we included two teachers: radiologist and cardiologist. Now we prepare the recommended minimum training criteria for ultrasound for emergency medicine.
