Abstrakt		For most of the twentieth century, increasing numbers of inbred mouse strains have been described and incorporated into biomedical research. They have played an instrumental role in immunology oncology genetics and are used today in the majority of biomedical research areas. With the advance of molecular genetics, they have developed into essential research tools where the genomic basis of disease and mutation can be examined at the level of individual genes. The purpose of our article is therefore to introduce the basic characteristics of inbred mouse strains.
