Abstrakt     Tooth wear can be either mechanical or mechanical and chemical in origin. The most frequent effects of wear are sensitivity of affected teeth to thermal and chemical stimuli, reduced vertical dimension of occlusion, and impaired aesthetics of the teeth and face. The mechanical causes of tooth wear are severe grinding and clenching of teeth. The chemical causes include decreased pH value of gastric juice, oral acidosis and consumption of acid food. The paper describes the management of reduced vertical dimension of occlusion in two patients with advanced tooth wear. In the first patient, porcelain veneers were placed on the maxillary anterior teeth. Manidbular teeth were built up with resin composite using adhesive technique. The vertical dimension of occlusion was increased by 2 mm. In the second patient, severely worn teeth in both jaws were restored with metal-porcelain crowns. The rest of the teeth were built up with resin composite. A bridge was placed in the lower jaw. The vertical dimension of occlusion was increased by 3 mm.
