| Abstrakt | | International recommendations for diagnosis and treatment of blood diseases, mostly issued by the World Health Organization, are general and verified. National guidelines, which are more frequently revised, take into account the possibilities of each country to adopt new and more effective methods for management of these conditions. Among the most recently published guidelines dealing with essential thrombocythaemia in the European Union are guidelines of the Czech Haematological Society for diagnosis and treatment of chronic myeloproliferative disorders with thrombocythaemia. This article is concerned with Slovene guidelines for diagnostic evaluation and management of patients with essential thrombocythaemia, which are currently under consideration by the Slovenian Society of Haematology.
