Abstrakt     Backrgound Fulminant hepatitis with acute hepatic failure caused by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) reactivation is rare and has high mortality. We report a case of fulminant EBV hepatitis with acute hepatic failure, disseminated intravascular coagulation and multiorgan failure in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia patient in relaps treated with alemtuzumab (monoclonal antiCD52) and standard chemoprophylaxis. After transient neutropenia he became icteric and had upper abdominal pain. The course was progressive and he died 13 days after onset of symptoms. We confirmed serologically and moleculary (EBV-DNA PCR) reactivation of EBV.
