Abstrakt		In the Reengineering the Corporation: A Manifesto for Business Revolution from 1993 it is written that the managers have problems with the understanding of business processes, in other words, that they are not process oriented. Improvement can be noticed in the industry, whereas in the health care this is not seen. Although the expression business process is often used, it is obvious that it is not understood thoroughly. In the article some basics of the business process theory are presented..The process organization enables faster communication, higher ideas flow, shorter activities times and faster adaptation to changes. Many processes in the human body, the success of its operation does not depend only on its structure (anatomy); but much more on processes' execution (physiology). Analogically, the business organization functions because of the processes that run in it, and not because of its functional structure. People must take part in the business processes; information technology can not solve the problems by itself. A very simply model of the digestive process is presented in the article, that are followed by the presentation of some of the processes in the health care acute injury treatment, inpatient hospital treatment process, data processing at the Institute of Public Health of Slovenia. Good work, cooperation and coordination of all included is needed to achieve good performance.
Izvleček		V knjigi Preurejanje podjetja - manifest revolucije v poslovanju iz leta 1993 je zapisano, da pojem poslovni proces večini menedžerjev povzroča težave, da večina poslovnežev ni procesno usmerjenih. V gospodarskih organizacijah je opaziti napredek, v zdravstvu pa tega ni čutiti. Čeprav se izraz poslovni proces velikokrat uporablja, pa je čutiti, da razumevanje ni popolno. Prispevek podaja nekaj splošnih dejstev iz teorije poslovnih procesov. Procesna organizacija omogoča hitrejšo komunikacijo, večji pretok idej, krajši čas za opravljanje dejavnosti in hitrejše prilagajanje na spremembe. V človeškem telesu poteka veliko procesov, uspešnost delovanja človeškega telesa pa ni odvisna le od zgradbe (anatomije), veliko bolj od uspešnosti delovanja procesov (fiziologije). Analogno tudi organizacija deluje zaradi procesov, ki v njej potekajo, in ne zaradi njene strukture. V poslovnem procesu delujejo ljudje. Informacijska tehnologija sama ne more rešiti ničesar. Poleg zelo poenostavljenega pogleda na prebavni proces so v prispevku analogno grobo prikazani tudi nekateri procesi v zdravstvu: proces obravnave akutnih poškodb, proces obravnave bolnika v bolnišnici, proces obdelave podatkov na Inštitutu za varovanje zdravja Republike Slovenije. Da jeproces dobro izveden, je potrebno zavzeto delo vseh udeležencev, njihovo sodelovanje in koordinacija.
