Abstrakt     Cerebrovascular diseases are brain diseases occurring due to blood vessel damage. In recent years, stroke has been increasingly recognised as a medical emergency. Ischemic brain events can be caused by atherothrombosis of the neck vessels, small cerebral vessels or cardiac embolisms, or may be due to some other, rare causes. Primary stroke prevention aims to reduce the risk of stroke in asymptomatic subjects by controlling the risk factors for atherosclerosis. Secondary stroke prevention focuses on therapies that inhibit the ability of platelets to form thromboemboli. This objective can be achieved either through direct antiplatelet and anticoagulation activity or by regulating the mechanisms that affect platelet aggregation and coagulation.
