Abstrakt     The following problems were investigated in the series of prospective clinical studies: 1. What is the most appropriate anticoagulant agent during hemodialysis in the terms of the influence on coagulation system and macroscopic antithrombotic effect (Study I)? 2. Does filling of dialysis circuit with albumin prevent platelet activation during hemodialysis (Study 2a)? 3. How does blood flow (200 and 300 ml/min, respectively) intluence on platelet and coagulation system activation during hemodialysis (Study Zb)? 4. How does dialysate temperature (38.5 and 35.5 degrees C, respectively) influence on platelet and coagulation system activation during hemodialysis (Study 3)? In the Study 1 five anticoagulant regimens were compared: standard, intermittently applied heparin, single dose of low molecular weight heparin, prostacyclin alone, indobufen with lower dose of standard heparin and heparin free hemodialysis. We have found that hemodialysis with prostacyclin alone was preferred to heparin free hemodialysis because of better macroscopic antithrombotic effect. In the Study 2a we have found that filling of dialysis circuit with albumin before hemodialysis did not prevent platelet activation during hemodialysis. We have also found (Study 2b) more intensive coagulation system and platelet activation at the beginning of hemodialysis using blood flow 200ml/min, compared to 300 ml/min. In the Study 3 we found less platelet and coagulation system activation during hemodialysis with dialysate temperature 35.5 degrees C, compared to 38.5 degrees C.
