Abstrakt     We studied cell-mediated immune response of peripheral blood lymphocytes from children with coeliac disease to stimulation with gluten-derived antigens, gluten fractions III and B. Three in vitro tests were used, including proliferation test, leucocyte migration inhibition assay and determination of concetrations of water-soluble interleukin 2 receptors on the culture of antigen-stimulated lymphocytes. It was found that stimulation of peripheral blood lymphocytes from children with coeliac disease by gluten antigens produced a notably more increased leucocyte migration inhibition factor than lymphocyte stimulation in control children. We conclude that blood lymphocytes from children with gluteninduced enteropathy are sensitized specially to gluten antigens. The results of the other two tests revealed no significant ditference between the coeliac group and controls as concems their cell-mediated immune response. This finding may be due to the laboratory testing conditions, or may reflect characteristic features ot cellular immune reaction induced by gluten. At concentraction of 100 microg/ml, stimulation with gluten fraction III !nduced a significantly higher increase in concentraction of water soluble interleukin 2 receptors in both groups of children as compared to the results of stimulation using the same antigen at concentration of 1 mg/ml, and fraction B. ln some healthy controls, lymphocyte stimulation with gluten antigens produced inhibition, and, in the first place, activation of leucocyte migration. These gluten-derived antigens may trigger cell-mediated immunity, which can be either specitic or nonspecific (polyclonal lymphocyte activation. (Abstract truncated at 2000 characters)
