Abstrakt		In the article the changes in health status statistics of the population is presented as a challenge to the development of the rehabilitation for overcoming related disabilities. The bio-psycho-social model and ICF are stressed for their understanding. The concept of ICF is presented as a framework for describing and measuring and with health related status. It is relevant and important for physical and rehabilitation medicine and for large number of allied professional groups, including physiotherapy. A review of selected literature is done to present its use in clinical rehabilitation practice and for defining broader competence for the physical therapy profession.
