Abstrakt     When analyzing time series the Student t-test often appears to be an inappropriate method for testing the differences in means. The data in time series are often nonstationary and may express strong seasonal effects. The results of the ordinary t-test would be valid only if the observations before and after the event of interest varied with regard to means mu1 and mu2, not only normally and with constant variance but also independently. In this research paper we wanted to find out if the outbreaks of Colibacillosis and Necrotic enteritis on a large farm could have been related to a reduction in the mean number of weaned piglets following the outbreaks. Due to the quoted reasons we did not use the Student t-test in the analysis; instead we chose intervention analysis. A basic model was built first, which accounts for the statistically significant autocorrelation structure in the time series. Two intervention variables were added then, both of the type of extended pulse variable. The first variable represents the outbreak of Colibacillosis while the other represents the outbreak of Necrotic enteritis.
