Abstrakt     Human consumption of trans isomers of unsaturated latty acids has increased markedly mostly in industrialized countries. Trans fatty acid in our diet originate primarily from partially hydrogenated fats that are widly used for the production of margarins, frying fats and a large variety of prepared foods. In addition, smaller amounts of dietary trans fatty acids are contributed by milk and body fats of cows and other ruminants. Consumption of trans fatty acids is considered safe for human, but side efferts including impaired essential fatty acid metabolism, raised serum LDL cholesterol and lowered HDL cholesterol relative to linolic acid, raised serum lipoprotein (a) as strong risk factor for coronary hearth disease have been observed in human.
