Abstrakt     Fractures of the growing skeleton in children have some special characteristic regarding adults. Injury of the growing plate may lead to the disturbance of the bone growth. As a consequence a leg length discrepancy may occur which leads to asymmetry of posture and gait. There are controversial views about the consequences of the leg length discrepancy among experts. Some studies prove that the leg length discrepancy up to 2,5 cm has no clinical side effects. On the other side other studies show significant changes in gait parameters leading to the low back pain and earlier osteoarthrosis. If the leg length discrepancy influences asymmetry of the pelvis an deviation of the spine the child should use an individually adapted raise in or on the shoe.
