Abstrakt     Tracheal relaxing efect and influence on the cardiovascular system of procaterol was compared with those of isoprenaline and salbutamol by the use the isolated trachea and atria of guinea pigs and isolated pulmonary artery of rabbits in vitro and anesthetised normotensive rats in vivo. Procaterol was approximately 25 times more potent than isoprenaline in reducing tracheal muscle tone. Relaxing effects of procaterol was 2 times more potent than that of isoprenaline and 9 times than that of salbutamol on the contraction of tracheal muscle provoked by histamine. Relaxing effects of equimolar concentration of procaterol and isoprenaline on the tracheal muscle provoked by carbachol inidicated that anticarbachol effects of procaterol were about 2 times greater than that of isoprenaline. Procaterol and salbutamol were less potent than equimolar concentrations of isoprenaline in producing positive inotropic effect of isolated atria. Procaterol was also more potent than salbutamol and less potent than isoprenaline in increasing rate of beating of isolated atria. Data obtained on isolated pulmonary artery indicated that procaterol the contraction of preparation provoked by K Cl weaker than equimolar concentration of sulbutamol and approximatley as strong as isoprenaline. In anesthetized rats hypotensive effect of procaterol was dose dependent and it was 2 times stronger than that of salbutamol and 6 times weaker than that of isoprenaline. The cardiac stimulating effect of procaterol was approximately as potent as sulbutamol and both compound were less potent than that of isoprenaline. The results of our work indicate that were the tracheal relaxing effects of procaterol in vitro stronger than that of sulbutamol and isoprenaline and that were the cardiovascular effects, of procaterol weaker than that of isoprenaline and approximately equal or weaker than that salbutamol in vitro and in vivo.
