Abstrakt		Basic elements of the WHO stategy Health for all by the year 2000 and Ottawa Charter are resumed in the contribution. The significance of these two documents for the formation of the HEALTHY CITIES PROJECT is presented. The vision of a Healthy city is presented and separately the principles are stressed on which the Healthy Cities project is based. The role and significance of the linkage of all, who joined the movement of Healthy Cities in Europe and worldwide, is presented and attention is called to the possibility of the collaboration of Slovenian cities in this WHO project.
