Abstrakt     The effects of TENS on the Hmax/Mmax ratio and on the H-reflex recovery curve features were studied in a group of 12 patients with clinically complete and incomplete spinal cord injuries. In the same group of patients, the effect of TENS on spastic hypertonia of the leg muscles was studied as well. The muscle hypertonia was assessed, like in the first part of this study, as resistive torque during continuous passive movements of the foot. In agreement with the findings, reported in the first part of the study, a prolonged decrease of muscle tone was determined after the application of TENS to the sural nerve. No significant effect on the excitability cycle of the motoneurons, as reflected in the H/M ratio and H-reflex recovery curve, could be detected after the application of TENS to the sural nerve.
