Abstrakt		Background. The allergy is presented as an excessive response of the immune system or as a specific hypersensitivity for certain agents in the environment. Both the incidence for allergic diseases as well as the causes for its increase have been discussed with special attention to the air pollutants which should reuct us adjuvants in sensibilization. In Slovenia among allergic diseases the only reliable parameteric are observed in the increasing prevalence of asthma, since it has increased 2.5 times during the past 14 years. The review of allergic, mostly atopic diseuses is presented. IgE mechanisms are discussed in detail together with the modern approach to allergic (atopic) reaction which should be included into the general inflammatory process.
