Abstrakt     Background. Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a chronic cholestatic disease of unknown etiology with inflammation and obliterative fibrosis of bile ducts system. Recent studies have suggested that genetic and immunologic factors are important in the pathogenesis of PSC. Diagnostic approach is particularly demanding. Methods and results. In article a case history clinical picture, the results of biochemical, histological and rentgenological methods to diagnose a PSC are presented. Conclusion. The diagnosis of PSC is made on cholangiographic appearances supported by biochemical and liver histologic findings. The diagnosis of PSC is more effective after inclusion of endoscopy and endoscopic retrograde cholangiography.
