Abstrakt     Migraine is a severely disabling condition which has considerable impact on the patient's well-being and ability to maintain an active social role. Assessing quality of life with specific instruments makes it possible to evaluate the impact of the disease on the patient's life. Quality of life is a wide-ranging concept covering many aspects of human experience, from elementary needs to more complex requirements associated with the achievement of a sensation of complete personal fulfilment and happiness. An instrument like MOS-SF36 allows evaluation of quality of life in patients with recognised chronic diseases like diabetes, myocardial infarction, osteoarthritis and gastrointestinal disorders. Results of MOS-SF36 questionnaire in migraine sufferers show a significant effect of this disease on their styles, often resulting in a desire to avoid social interaction. Optimisation of the quality of life for migraine sufferers has a vital effect, not only on the individual but also in terms of benefit to the community.
