Abstrakt		The percentage of inhabitants above 55 years of age in Slovenia is increasing. This group of inhabitants presents an important mental, economical and political potencial. With a grup of collaborators, the authors examined status of hard and soft tissues of oral cavity in the group of 731 randomly selected inhabitants of Slovenia of both sexes above 55 years of age. The research is a part of multinational study directed by collaboration WHO Centre for the prevention of oral diseases in Erfurt Germany. Statistical data processing was performed on the Institute for biomedical information of Medical Faculty - Humboldt University in Berlin. The authors find a connection between social and oral status of the examined persons. Those living at home have their own teeth much more preserved and also a higher percentage of dental-prosthetically replaced missing teeth, compared to those living in the homes for elderly people. The authors found also a higher numher of preserved teeth and a more complete form of dental rehahilitation in people who are not physically or mentally handicapped.
