Abstrakt		In spring 1992 digital dermatitis was diagnosed in Slovenia for the first time in two Holstein Friesian herds. At the same time we diagnosed the disease on a dairy farm in Croatia near the Slovenian border. The animals were clinically examined and material was taken for pathohistology and bacteriology. We diagnosed dermatitis with histological changes similar to those in papillomatosis caused by papovaviruses (BPV1-BPV6). Because of the similarity between the two diseases we suggest that one name only, wich encompasses characteristics of both diseases, should be used - dermatitis digitalis papillomatosa.
