Abstrakt     Ischemic heart disease (IHD) is the main reason for become ill and death also in slovenia. Heart rate has an important role in disease development because heart rate and blood pressure are an indicator of heart burden. The guidelines recommend heart rate between 50 and 60 beat per minute forthe patients with angina pectoris. The authors were interested for antiischemic and antianginostic effect of a new drug ivabradin (Procoralan), its influence on physical performance, well-being and possible side-effects. They included 110 out patients with stable angina pectoris and regular sinus rhitmus in the research. All patients had clinical examination, ECG recording and blood pressure measurement. They made also 6 minute walk test and answered on survey about well-being. They started to take ivabradine 5 mg twice per day. After one month followed an control examination. The results showed significant reduction of heart rate, reducing of angina pectoris attacks, smaller consumption of short acting nitrates, improvement of physical performance and better wel-being. There were no side effects. They established that ivabradin is good antiischemic and antianginostic drug and it significant improves physical performance and quality of life. It is reasonably to combine it with other drugs which we use for threating IHD. In patinets with IHD, stable angina pectoris and asthma ivabradine is an decision therapy.
