Abstrakt		From July 1990 till September 1992 10 children were admitted to the University Medical Centre, Ljubljana because of aspiration of ferrous sulphate tablets, or its consequences (6 to the Department of Paediatrics, 3 to the Department of Paediatric Surgery, 1 to the E.N.T Department). At the time of aspiration the youngest was 7 months and the oldest 3 years of age. We found pronounced caustic airway wall damage at the site where the tablet because of its size, had became stuck and adhered. The damage continued even after its removal. After several weeks scarring began, which led to partial or complete stenosis of the involved bronchus. Among children treated at the Department of Paediatrics, in one case obliteration of the main right bronchus was observed, while in the other 5 cases there was a partial stenosis of the main bronchus, complete stenosis of the upper and pronounced stenosis of the intermediate bronchus on the right side. The first 3 children admitted to the Department of Paediatrics are presented in this paper.
