Abstrakt     Patients with Lyme disease variably posses specific antibodies and express cellular immune response to Borrelia burgdorferi (Bb) antigens. Lymphocyte blast transformation assay with venous blood lymphocytes was performed to test cellular immune response to Bb antigens. Our Frst results with live Bb were not so good as reported. This was the reason to prepare testing antigens from freeze-thawing killed and afterthen ultrasound desintegrated Bb cells. Patients lymphocytes and Bb antigens (80-320 micro g Bb protein/ ml culture) were cocuttured in a microtiter plates. Lymphocytes from Bb infected patients and stimulated in vitro with Bb antigens and PMA respond in more then 50 per cent of clinically indubitable cases 10 times stronger to stimulation as those in unstimulated control cultures. Lymphocyte from the same subjects and stimulated with Bb without PMA activation respond weakly, usually 2 times stronger as in unstimulated cultures, but significantly worse then Bb-PMA stimulated cultures.
