Abstrakt | The number of household pets is constantly increasing. In Slovenia, there are between 140000 and 150000 dogs and about three to four times many cats. The number of birds, fishes, rodents and other animals kept as pets is a matter of speculation. Undoubtedly, pets bring a positive quality in human life, but on the other hand, they represent a potential source of several infectious diseases which may be transferred to. The authors give a review of some of the commonest pets-related zoonoses. Therapy and preventive measures are emphasised. | |
