Abstrakt     The purpose of this paper is to compare the long-term survival and success of dental implants and the incidence of mucositis and peri-implantitis in subjects with healthy periodontal tissues and subjects with ahistory of chronic or aggressive periodontitis. Using the PubMed database, we found and compared the results of analyses covering more than ten years. The ten-year survival of im plants was lower in patients with ahistory of periodontitis than in subjects with healthy periodontal tissues. In patients with a history of chronic periodontitis, the success of implants was lower than in subjects with healthy periodontal tissues. Loss of clinical attachment and probing depth around implants in this category of patients correlated with clinical attachment 1055 and probing depth around natural teeth. The condition of peri-implant tissues in these patients was worse in subjects who lacked maintenance compared to those with regular maintenance, and worse in smokers compared to non-smokers. In patients with aggressive periodontitis, the condition of peri-implant tissues was worse than in subjects with healthy periodontal tissues. We may conclude that ten years after implant placement, the survival of implants and the condition of peri-implant tissues are worse in patients with ahistory of periodontitis than in subjects with healthy periodontal tissues. A poor condition of peri-implant tissues in patients with ahistory of periodontitis is associated with the presence of periodontal pockets and 1055 of clinical attachment around teeth, irregular maintenance, and smoking.
