Abstrakt | I. CANCER OF STOMACH Pomurje is the extreme north-eastern part of the Republic Slovenia. It represents 6,6 percent of the Slovenian region, and it is the Slovenian coin-growing country. Administratively and politically it consists of the following communes: Gornja Radgona, Ljutomer, Murska Sobota and Lendava. On this part of the Slovenian soil there are 6,9 percent of Slovenian inhabitants. In the period from 1980-1990, we were examining the movement of the cancer stomach disease retrospectively. We found out that the disease incidence was higher then in the other regions of Slovenia, statistically high (p less th. 0.01) was only with the females. In the examined period it was stated only a small degree with the both sexes, in some communes, however, there was even considerable growth of the disease. This geographical region used to be always out of the republican average. In the past, this difference was due to the lower socio-economical development of the region, and excessive consummation of smoked meat. In the last years we have been dealing with the growing problem of the subterranean water of bad quality, e. t. drinking water, which has been excessively stuffed with nitrates, nitrite, pesticides and other poisonous agents. Unfortunately, there are no data on the soil quality and its overcharge with fertilisation. There are also no data on infected inhabitants with the bacteria H. pylori, as another possible etiologic factor, and no way to find out if it has influence on the stomach carcinogenesis whatsoever. Among histologically defined cases, there were 96,3 percent of adenocarcinomas, and among those were half of the intestinal type. Among the ill, there were also 3 percent of the malignant lymphoma patients. We might discover only 4,2 percent of illnesses in early stadium, which is far under the number of the Japanese or the Gastroenterological internal clinic in Ljubljana. The biggest incidence of disease was in the group of age 75-79 years.(trunc.) | |
