Abstrakt		The aim of the present study was to follow the progression of periodontal disease in adult residents of Ljubljana over a period of ten years. Periodontal treatment needs of 400 subjects aged 15 years and 290 subjects aged 35 were evaluated in 1983. Ten years later, 124 subjects from the younger age group and 100 from the older one attended for control examination. The same CPITN methodology was used in both surveys. Compared to the initial data, the results from the 1993 survey showed a significant increase in the proportion of subjects with calculus and shallow periodontal pockets requiring scaling and root planing in the younger age group, and a significant increase in the proportion of subjects with deep pockets requiring complex treatment in the older group.
