Abstrakt | First, a distinction between observational and experimental studies is made. Afterwards, current ideas and trends in experimental epidemiology are explored, as well as basic characteristics of different types of intervention studies. During this topic key interrelated components in intervention studies, such as planning, organization, selection of study participants, calculation of sample size, follow-up, and detection of the effects, are introduced. The potential biases in study design and measurement of outcomes make an important part of this topic, too. In addition, an ethical consideration of intervention studies is discussed. | |
