Abstrakt		Schizophrenia is a disease the etiology of which has remained unexplained untill now. It seems that there are numerous reasons for the development of this disease. Its course, number of relapses and chronic state of the disease are undoubtedly affected by social factors, the most important among them being familial. It has been established that the intensity-which can be measured by means of the index of Expressed Emotionality-is more important thant the quality of the relations in the family. New findings of this influence on the course of the disease have opened new therapeutic possibilities to exercise effect on the family.
