Abstrakt | A method of consecutive approximations is proposed for calculation of the shape of lipid vesicle with liquid membrane in constant electric field. In the simplest case when the bending elasticity energy is neglected analytical expressions are derived for more or less elongated vesicles. For vesicles of supermicron size this limit corresponds to fields stronger than 100 V/cm. In this approximation the shape of vesicle does not depend on field strenght and is determined by its volume and surface area. A different equation for the principal curvature of vesicle shape is derived for the bilayer couple model of membrane. Numerical solution of this expression shows the increase of the vesicle diameter on equator simultaneously with its elongation with the electric field strenght increase. At high enough field strenght the vesicle virtually reaches its limiting shape. Compatibility of the bilayer couple model and the bending elasticity description is discussed. | |
