Abstrakt		Organised and extensive dental prevention has been implemented in Maribor schools since 1980. Till then dental caries in schoolchildren was increasing. From 1980 on it is decreasing. Care for dental hygiene and fluoridation have been provided in cooperation with primary schools. Nurses are taking part in dental health education, they motivate children for healthy diet and carry out dental plaque testing. Dentists regularly perform dental examinations, motivate and treat the primary school population. In the school year 199/92 2442 children in the age of 12 years were examined. The results show caries-extractions-fillings index of 2.91, fulfilling aims of dental health as determined by WHO for this population till the year 2000.
