Abstrakt     The article presents psychological reactions of children in the age 6-10 years to traumatic war experiences: alarms, bombing, father's participation in war, wounded father, "houses, in which chetniks moved in", destroyed gardens, hunger and war reports. These children do not have motivation for school work or staying in kindergarten, resulting in lower school grades, sleep disorders (insomnia and/or nightmares), anxiety and fright of staying alone, and, although more seldom, obsessive speaking about war or drawing war events. A magic figure/person or a complete negation of present conditions is used as defence. The article shows some war elements having harmful influence on the mental health, especially in children. Obviously a more intensive engagement is needed in diagnosing and detection of psychological traumatic state signs in children. The help of international community is also needed to prevent serious consequences.
