Abstrakt     The article presents analysis of undetected hearing impairment in diagnostic of learning difficulties. Data on 402 children with hearing impairment were included. In 69.4 percent it was possible to establish the cause of the impairment: 19.9 percent had prenatal congenital lesion, 2.2 percent prenatal acquired, 17.7 perinatal and 29.6 percent postnatal. Taxon analysis differentiated 5 distinct bipolar taxons, examined with taxonic score greater than 0.45. The first taxon contained children, sent for examination because of learning problems, with history of frequent otitis media and slight hearing impairment not noticed at commission examination. The second taxon discerns children who have different course of schooling after the beginning of rehabilitation, the third one children with hereditary hearing disorders, the fourth one children exclusively needing social care rights and the fifth one children with severe multiple impairments (syndromes). Undetected, one-sided conductive hearing impairment represents a risk of maladaptation to school, for learning difficulties and even for presumption about mental retardation. Hearing schould, therefore, be tested in preschool children with an acceptable screening test, and teachers and school personnel should be informed about symptoms and consequences of possible sensoric impairments.
