Abstrakt		Rapid prototyping and technologies have experienced a renaissance through rapid prototyping and have opened-up new possibilities regarding medical interventions. Combined with traditional CT scanning techniques rapid technologies (prototyping and tooling) can be used as instruments for better (three-dimensional) visualization and treatment of patients. They also improve the overall performances of medical and nursing staff thus influencing the quality of medical service. By using a CT scan of a patient's injured scull, the scull was reconstructed and the missing part of the scull modeled by the use of CAD software. The skull and the implant were produced by SLS and PolyJet technologies to verify thefittings of both parts. Based on the printed model of the implant, a silicone rubber mould was produced that was later used for molding biocompatible material and forming the implant which was implanted into the patient's head.
