Abstrakt		The authors prepared longitudinal and serial cryostat crosssections of the horizontal human extraocular muscles on the basis of skeletal muscle biopsy. The specimens were stained with HE, Gomori 3 C. Myofibrillar ATP-ase, NADH, men alphaGPD and SDH activity was determined and the muscle fibers were typed according to the reaction intensity. The first group of horizontal rectus muscles belonged to the autopsy normal eyes of younger adults, studied a few hours after death, the second group of muscles was gained during squint surgery. AT least four types of muscle fibers were identified, mostly type II fibers without specific difference between evaluated muscle groups.
