Abstrakt		The article describes how different risk factors affect a child or an adolescent and his family. New tasks for a paediatrician depend upon actual demographical, social, economical and public health conditions in his area accomplishment of new tasks in the future work. The role of the paediatrician is a complex one, including advisory service as well as medical support to the child, to the adolescent and to his family. More effort must also be made to eliminate the negative impact resulting from the risk factors for health and development of young people. Actual regulations on child health care in Slovenia seem to be inadequate to achive all tasks recognized as indispensable. Paediatricians shoud be involved in any decision concerning the regulations of child health care at the levels of state and community. The authors conclude that such concepts require broader knowledge, therefore more teaching of sociology, psychology, family medicine, health education and ecology should be incorporated into undergraduate and postgraduate study of paediatrics.
